3. Installation
- Only qualified personnel should work on electrical equipment.
- Wear necessary PPE when working with electricity.
- Read and follow all device manuals.
- Refer to the SolarMD Quick User Guide for communication cable termination.
- Electrical wiring must comply with local standards.
- Ensure mechanical and electrical integrity:
- Earth resistance test and bonding continuity
- Polarity test
- Torque and mark all bolts and terminations
- AC cable insulation testing
- DC bus insulation testing (see
SMD_IRT-DCB_01
)
4. Cold Commissioning
- Visually inspect for safety: covers in place, no live parts accessible.
- Turn on all batteries using the green ON/OFF switch on the BMU.
- On MyPower24 portal:
- Go to
Logger > Interfaces
tab → pressScan
→ connect found battery. - In
Battery > Settings
:- Set
Cluster Remote Device
to InPower - Set
CANBUS Baudrate
to 250kbps
- In
Battery > Cluster Data
:- Identify the Master battery
- Confirm “Online Batteries” = number of installed batteries
- In
Battery > Actual Data
:- Confirm all battery voltages are within 10V of each other
5. Hot Commissioning
- Turn on battery isolators → wait ~5s for precharge and main relay
- Confirm in
Battery > Cluster Data
: “DC BUS Connected Batteries” = installed batteries - Power on:
- External DC switch (if present)
- Grid breaker on PCS (PCS should start in ~1 min)
- On MyPower24 portal:
- In
Logger > Interfaces
tab:- Select
eth0
- Click
Add Device
→ select InPower - Enter serial number, IP, etc. → click
Start
- Blue balloon should appear in
My Devices
- In PCS page:
- Set battery type to Lithium-ion
!! IMPORTANT: Incorrect battery type may cause damage and void warranty.
- Configure grid settings per local code
- In
Battery > Cluster Data
:
- Check:
- Can State = Enabled
- Line State = Connected
- Bit Rate = 250kbps
- Tx/Rx frames increase every ~3 seconds
- Note: If baud rate is changed, restart PCS to reset CANBUS controller
- Once communication is confirmed, switch PCS on for testing
- Start PCS:
- Off-grid: no load
- Grid-tied: low charge/discharge power
- Verify AC/DC voltage and current match portal data
- Check for proper function of batteries, PCS, and other devices
- Disconnect CANBUS temporarily:
- PCS should show BMS Communication Fault in ~10s
- Reconnect → PCS should recover in ~3s
- Perform high current test:
- In
Battery > Remote Device Control Test
:- Set charge/discharge current to 0A for 20s
- Battery current should drop to 0A and recover automatically
- Ensure:
- Battery room is climate-controlled (20°C–30°C)
- PCS has adequate cooling
- Use thermal camera to verify no overloaded cables or loose connections
